Fiddy's Ex Got Served!

50 Cent's ex Shaniqua Tompkins got a restraining order this morning against the rapper -- but she was also served with a real doozy of a lawsuit.

The rapper's lawyers brought the legal hammer down on Tompkins, slapping her with a $20 million defamation suit in Connecticut court for accusing Fiddy -- over and over again -- of burning down his own house, and trying to kill her and his own son. Not only that, 50 wants the court to force Shaniqua to let him visit 11-year-old Marquise, in accordance with an earlier order.

The parties will be in New York in July to sort it all out. The arson investigation in the Dix Hills fire is ongoing.

Ricki Lake - Lake Bites Back Over Home Birth Row

LATEST: RICKI LAKE has taken aim at a leading U.S. doctor's group after officially publicly criticised her for promoting home births, insisting she was merely championing womens' right to choose.

Lake's documentary The Business of Being Born showed footage of her giving birth at home to her son Owen, now seven, and suggested hospital births could be problematic.

Officials at the American Medical Association reacted angrily, warning expectant mothers not to follow the Hairspray star's example - and insisting hospital births are still the safest option.

But Lake insists she was misunderstood. She explains, "Home birth was around long before hospitals were taking over. And I just think women need to know (the information) so that they can make the best choice for them.

"It's scary that (the groups) have sort of targetted me. And, you know, I'm all about choice. This is not unlike the abortion issue. I am pro-choice when it comes to childbirth and choices in birth. I'm not anti-doctor, I'm not anti-hospital."

All Olympics; All The Time

NBC plans to set up a TV network, composed of both local broadcast stations and cable outlets, that will be devoted entirely to Olympic Sports, published reports said Monday. As part of its plans, NBC has taken a stake in World Championship Sports Network, which will carry the programming and change its name to Universal Sports Network.. WCSN currently provides programming via over-the-air TV stations and a website that streams live sporting events. The companies' plans could conflict with another Olympics channel being developed by the U.S. Olympic Committee. Answering the question of how Universal Sports expects to fill a full daily schedule with Olympics coverage before the summer games actually begin, the companies said in their statement that the channel plans to provide a "year-round destination for the elite and everyday athletes who compete, hope to compete and admire those who compete" in the Olympics.

McAvoy Reveals Windy Woes!

The last thing any guy would want when he's up close and personal with Angelina Jolie would be a bad case of gas.

But James McAvoy says that he suffered exactly that embarrassing little problem during the filming of their new movie, Wanted!

The skinny Scots actor had to bulk up in a hurry for his starring role opposite Angelina in the superhero flick, released June 27.

So producers told him to fill up with protein shakes and hit the gym four nights a week.

But the Narnia star told the Times of London newspaper during filming that he had to ditch the drinks because they were giving him "violent flatulence" on set.

Ive given up taking them and Im just trying to eat as much steak and chicken as I can," he said.

Just as well with all those karate kicks!

Mendes proves you're never too old to change tune

Sergio Mendes, the man who put bossa nova on the American Top 10 in 1968 with his Brasil ’66 band, has a new plan.
“I want to reintroduce the classics of Brazilian music to a whole new generation,” the 67-year-old composer, arranger and keyboard player said by phone from a tour stop in New York.
He’s not merely paying lip service to the idea. For the second album in a row, Mendes recruited will.i.am of Black Eyed Peas fame to co-produce his new CD. The result, “Encanto” (Enchantment), currently sits atop Billboard’s contemporary jazz chart and features a number of hot young guests, including Fergie, Colombian rock star Juanes, r & b singer Ledisi and Italian rapper Jovanotti.

Add in veterans including Natalie Cole, Herb Alpert and Brazil’s Carlinhos Brown and you’ve got one bright tropical summer CD, especially with will.i.am and Mendes stirring it up together.
“Brazil is a happy, party kind of country and that’s what I wanted the feel of this CD to be,” said Mendes, who leads his 10-member ensemble into the Somerville Theatre on Wednesday. “That’s how we grew up. It’s about sun, playing football on the beach, going to Carnaval, and that’s reflected in Brazil’s music.”
On Mendes’ previous album, “Timeless,” rapper and producer will.i.am used a cast that included John Legend, Jill Scott and Justin Timberlake to give a hip-hop/r & b edge to the leader’s bossa nova and samba.
“I wanted to show the diversity and internationality of Brazilian music with ‘Encanto’,” said Mendes. “Sometimes people think that Brazilian music is only bossa nova. But there are many things happening down there rhythmically, harmonically, melodically.”
Black Eyed Pea will.i.am is actually the one who made the collaboration happen.
“He came to my house (in Los Angeles) and had a bunch of old vinyl records of mine with him,” Mendes said. “I was very surprised. He told me that when he was growing up in the late ’60s and early ’70s he was listening to all of my records.”
The two hit it off. Will.i.am invited Mendes to be a guest on the Black Eyed Peas’ “Elephunk” album, then the Grammy-winning son of Brazil returned the favor by offering the rapper the co-producer’s seat on “Timeless.”
“He’s very creative, very musical,” Mendes said. “If you listen to Brazilian music or jazz or hip-hop or r & b, it all goes back to Africa. That’s what we have in common. In Brazil, the kids are doing rap and doing samba, just the way the kids are playing rap and r & b here.
“To me, that’s the beautiful thing about making music like this: trying different things. That’s what we do in Brazil, and I still love to do it.”
Sergio Mendes at the Somerville Theatre, Wednesday, 8 p.m. Tickets: $33.50-$51; 617-931-2000.
Waxing About Brazil: Sergio Mendes plays in Somerville this week.

Puzo -- You Took My Money, and My Cannoli!

The guy who wrote "The Godfather" says all his stories went into a big-bucks video game -- and all he came out with was d*** in his hands.

The estate of Mario Puzo -- repped by the Don of Hollywood lawyers, Bert Fields -- is making Paramount Pictures an offer it might or might not refuse, asking for some of the coin from the "Godfather" video game. They want more than a million bucks, saying that, as far as what made the game huge, it was Puzo all along.

No word in the lawsuit whether sleeping fish or bodyless horses will be part of the legal defense. Paramount hasn't responded.
